Central and South America, Mexico

The Talavera of Dolores Hidalgo

A short drive from San Miguel de Allende is the town of Dolores Hidalgo. Known as the place where the Mexican Revolution began, it is also known throughout Mexico and the world as the home of Mexican Talavera. These stunning (and often quite humorous) pieces of pottery add vibrancy and whimsy to homes throughout the world.

Jonna and Raymond, our new friends (and the homeowners of our recent pet sit) just happen to collect Talavera and are good friends with the owners of one of the factories. They took us to meet them and tour the factory while picking up a few pieces for their new home.

What an amazing day we had!

*0% of this factories production is shipped to Ace Hardware for redistribution throughout the United States and 10% goes to Australia. It is no surprise that people fill their homes with these pieces. After all, it is a great way to be surrounded with Mexican color.

See you on the road,

Bev & John
