The Downs & Ups of Traveling by Pet Sitting

Even when I am traveling the world by pet sitting, I have down times. They don’t come on because I am frustrated with travel stuff or disappointed with a place or situation.

They generally just happen and I become restless and bored. It seems illogical that this would happen when I am surrounded by everything new, and wonderful and exciting, and all my senses are alert and entertained.

My Self talk:

“You want to try a new walking path?” No

“Let’s go and see if we can find a jigsaw puzzle.” No

“Spanish, writing, reading, doodling, napping, cooking?” No

“Bathe the pups, groom the horses or just straighten up the house?” No

“Clean up email, contact some friends, play with instagram, friggin meditate.” No No NO

Then I have a day when I might be walking one of the many leaf covered paths of our world. I feel completely content, filled up to the brim with a joy-filled sensation that sprinkles throughout my body.

My Self talk:

“Is there anything that could be better?” No

“Anything?” Nope

I scan my body, check out my feelings, thoughts, energy. It’s all perfect. There is nothing I would change. Nothing!

If I had a magic wand and could have or do anything at all? Anything! What would it be? At this particular moment I have everything I want. I don’t need or want anything else. I am feeling totally alive, engaged and at one with my surroundings.

So I just gently love the joy-filled moment I am in. Dive into the feeling and splash around in it….feeling blessed.

So here is the question — What needs to happen to have more up days than down?

Something to ponder!

Through the amazing lifestyle we have created I definitely have vastly more “UP” days than down. I have trained myself to recognize an on-coming down day and make the necessary adjustments to stop it in its tracks. It is surprisingly easy to do.
